LOSS A GREAT ONE!

Hey everyone I hope your having a GREAT weekend! Friday nite we lost a great one!

Paul Newman, the legendary blue-eyed actor and philanthropic food mogul, died last night [Friday] at his Connecticut farmhouse at the age of 83. The Oscar-winner had been suffering from cancer. He was with family and close friends at the time of his death.
Newman, who began his career in the days of live television, shot to stardom playing coolly independent characters in such films as Exodus, The Long, Hot Summer, The Hustler, Hud and Cool Hand Luke. His career peaked when he was teamed with Robert Redford for 1969's Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, followed four years later by The Sting. After six Best Actor nominations, Newman finally took home an Oscar for 1986's The Color of Money, in which he reprised his Hustler role of pool shark "'Fast' Eddie Felson." He earned three more acting nominations after finally winning the Academy Award. Newman eased off film roles following 2002's Road to Perdition -- appearing only in the H-B-O movie Empire Falls and a Broadway revival of Our Town, which was taped for T-V. He was also the voice of a veteran racecar in the animated feature Cars, before retiring for good.
Along with acting, Newman had two active sidelines -- as a racecar driver and food entrepreneur. His non-profit Newman's Own food line -- which began when friends convinced him to bottle his legendary homemade salad dressing -- eventually spawned dozens of products and raised hundreds of millions of dollars for charity.
Paul Newman was married to his frequent collaborator Joanne Woodward for more than 50 years, a rarity in Hollywood. It was his second marriage -- he was married for nearly 10 years to Jackie Witte. Each marriage produced three children.
