THINGS TO DO BEFORE YOU DIET
On a diet? Who isn't? We all know that eating the right things and getting the right amount of exercise are key. But there are also ways to look and feel thinner that don't involve counting calories and racking up miles on the treadmill.
Mimi Spencer's new book, 101 Things to Do Before You Diet (Because Looking Great Isn't Just About Losing Weight), is a list of tricks to tweak the way you think about dieting and your body.
Try some of these before you give in to a cupcake craving ...
1. Wear heels. Instant sexy -- plus longer, leaner looking legs.
2. Beware fat magnet friends. You know -- the pal who can eat anything and orders fries, has that extra beer and still downs dessert? Don't ditch them, but be extra careful to stick to your plan when venturing out.
3. Discover your signature style. Rock the clothing that gets you the most compliments and makes you feel good, even if it's a V-neck you scored five years ago at a yard sale.
4. Give food your undivided attention. You might discover you cut calories without trying when you pay attention to each morsel. Try to remember to eat when you're hungry (not just weepy, bored, or drunk).
5. Slip into some sexy panties. Power suit? How about power panties? Get some use out of those things and enjoy the opposite of the "panties in a bunch" effect.
6. Buy more food without labels. Limit the boxes, cans, and wrappers. A good rule to follow: If you have to nuke it when you get home, there's probably a fresher option in the produce or meat aisle.
7. Wear black opaque tights. They're in for fall, and they make your legs look thinner -- plus, they can hide a multitude of flaws.
8. Police your portion control. Cleaning your plate is out especially if the portions are Americano.
9. Beware of "healthy" foods. Be careful that your bowl of lettuce doesn't then get smothered in dressing, croutons and bacon bits. It's hardly a "salad" if it's worse for you than a milkshake!
10. Choose fat burners, not fats. Some foods actually satisfy you. Try: grapefruit, apples, olive oil, flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, lecithin, garlic, blueberries, and almonds.

COMMON GROOMING MISTAKES
Askmen.com has compiled a list of the Top 10 Common Grooming Mistakes. How many mistakes do you make?
10. You use too much cologne. All you need is two to three sprays in the right areas.
9. You don't use face moisturizer to keep your skin from looking old and dry.
8. You don't clean and cut your fingernails.
7. You dry shave. Can't understand why you get razor burn? It's because you need a shaving gel that will soften the skin.
6. You use worn-out razors. The school of thought is that blades should be replaced after two weeks.
5. You use too much hair gel.
4. You ignore your thinning hair instead of using a product with Minoxidil.
3. You ignore your nose and ear hair.
2. You don't trim and shape your facial hair.
1. You let your body hair get too long and out of control. Trim it down to shorter, yet natural-looking, length.

WHAT YOUR BEER SAYS ABOUT YOU
According to data put together by the magazine Advertising Age, your choice of beer says a lot about you.
Here's what they found:
Budweiser -- Bud drinkers are sensible, grounded and practical. They also don't like authority and are 42 percent more likely to drive a truck than the average person.
Bud Light -- Very different from regular Bud drinkers, people who buy Bud Light are careless, with frat boy personalities, and are 48 percent more likely than the average person to play the lottery every day.
Michelob Ultra -- Michelob Ultra drinkers think highly of themselves and can be conceited. They care what other people think about them and want to appear perfect.
Blue Moon -- They are socially liberal, hate moral authorities and can also be sarcastic and snide in order to get a point across. They are also 105 percent more likely than the average person to drive hybrid cars.
