Todays Brain Drain:
10 TYPES OF FEMALE FRIENDS
There are the kinds of friends you should have and then the kinds of friends you do have.
tHE new year's almost here and it might be time to evaluate your friendships (and the energy you expend on maintaining them).
Here are the 10 types of female friends (according to author Susan Shapiro Barash, author of Toxic Friends).
1. The Leader -- This is the friend who gets you invited to parties, and makes decisions for everyone.
2. The Doormat -- Pretty self-evident, the doormat is both a martyr and an ear to lean on.
3. The Sacrificer -- This gal takes the leap for her friends; we lean on her in tough times, or when you need someone to pick up the phone in the middle of the night. The sacrificer can get seriously disappointed when she discovers not everyone is such a dedicated pal.
4. The Misery Lover -- These friends seem to live for your bad news over your good! They are there for you when times are tough, but sometimes nowhere to be found when you're out of a crisis.
5. The User -- Users are purposeful and have hidden agendas. She's pretty self-involved ultimately, so be careful of her charisma and charm.
6. The Frenemy -- The dark side of the user, these manipulators are passive aggressive and hide under a facade of friendship.
7. The Trophy Friend -- You are the trophy for this person. You elevate her to a new level after she "discovers you" and it's a thrill to be together -- thing is, this friend falls short on commitment.
8. The Mirroring Friend -- We're often drawn to people who are a lot like us, and that mirror aspect makes it work. We usually connect with these people in a number of ways.
9. The Sharer -- Yes, women tend to share, but this gal will tell all and pour herself into the friendship -- and she wants you to be her BEST friend.
10. The Authentic Friend -- The grail of friendships, we all strive to be and behold authentic friends. Their deep commitment means they put up with your crap, and you put up with theirs. These are the relationships that operate from a place of self-esteem, care, and flexibility -- and the kind we try to keep forever.
